A Taste of Our Rural Island Paradise

Picked by friends and family in February and at peak ripeness after a season of careful nurturing, our fruit preserves the refreshing taste of warm sunny days, cool nights, frequent showers and occasional snow.

Hand-made, Heart-felt and Sustainable

We pick, sort and press our fruit by hand. In cooperation with local distillery we maserate and distil in small batches, keeping a close eye on progress and protecting vital seasonal nuances.

Made With Minimal Intervention

We believe that the right level of care in the orchard delivers a superior product that’s free from additives, preservatives and the wizardry deployed by big brands. This approach allows us to produce a natural, unfiltered and truly sustainable product.

The Story

The cultivation of bitter oranges dates back over four millenia, preceding that of sweet oranges by over 400 years. Whilst you can find trees in many local gardens, the fruit is under-appreciated and almost never harvested. Amargéro is the result of a desire to utilise the fruit from our own ancient trees.

Starting as a hobby project to quench the thirst of visiting friends and family, the Amargéro we produce today is the result of their positive feedback and the propagation of our trees to extend production, rather than from saplings of other varieties that didn’t match the quality and flavour of our own fruit.

When it came to distillation, we partnered with a family-owned, local distillery that has been in the same family ownership for 120 years. Much of the process is done by hand, in the very small quantities we’re able to produce, and is bottled without any additives or filtering.
